Sorry to dump this on you
For the past several hours I’ve been looking for some piece of positive or encouraging news to pair with this disturbing, disgusting little item. I just haven’t been able to find anything nearly positive enough to cancel out the utter depravity of what I’m about to share.
Sorry to piss on your Saturday, Internet, but that’s how it goes.
Once upon a time, I used to follow a Web site called Metafilter. It’s a blog, basically, but it’s got like a thousand contributors or something. There was a time when you could go to Metafilter and see interesting or amusing things that would brighten your day.
Round about the end of 2000, all that stopped, and Metafilter gradually began to morph into a hard-left, anti-American hate site. Seriously. I am not exaggerating.
I stopped reading it somewhere around a year ago, but I have one loyal follower who still dives into the depravity from time to time and sends me a link to a particularly egregious example of disgusting behavior from the people who contribute to that site. Most of these links go unpublished because I just don’t get off on negativity, either the negativity spewed by a bunch of people who hate America or the negativity that arises from getting really mad at those people.
But once in a while, this correspondent of mine e-mails me something so egregious, so outrageous that I just have to share.
Today is one of those times.
The editors of Metafilter are spreading the unfounded, vile and damaging rumor that President Bush is, in their words, “back on the bottle.” Their primary source is the National Enquirer, and their corroborating link goes to — I’m not kidding — the Democratic Underground.
This is the modern American left, people. This is the political opposition party in a nutshell. Any thought of what’s good for America has long since vanished, replaced with open hatred. These are the people who are trying to wrest control of the Congress back into their slimy little hands.
